April Newsletter
Pronoia
Hey everyone! April flew by extremely fast, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I know in past months I have talked more about the things I have been working on but this month I would like to spend more time talking about this month’s mindset.
*hint* It’s in the subtitle *hint*
If you have not read any of my past newsletters yet you can check them out anytime you want under my sub stack account or by the button beneath. If you have read them: Welcome Back! It’s GREAT to have you here! Now let’s get right into it:
Hello, my name is Haley Best. I am a 15-year-old from Pennsylvania, USA who loves reading, drawing✏, exploring, and just anything science🧪. I am so excited to be broadening my knowledge this year through TKS. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
Updates:
To begin I would just like to briefly catch you up on what I have done this month.
Started our moonshot!! WOHHOO!! I am so excited to have this opportunity. If you do not know what a moonshot is let me elaborate a bit. A moonshot is where you and your team Identify a very large real-world problem into today’s world and come up with the craziest efficient, yet feasible, idea possible to solve it. We then have to create several deliverables and at the very end get to present to industry professional judges!
Finished my apply! I know I have talking about it for months, but it is finally finished! I wrote an article on dark energy if you would like to check it out under my medium account.
Started my review stage on Space Elevators!
MINDSET:
This month’s mindset is Pronoia. If you are unsure about what exactly that is, let me explain. I am sure once or twice in your life you have heard the word paranoid. Maybe you have even been paranoid yourself at some point in time.
"par·a·noid[ˈperəˌnoid]
ADJECTIVE
unreasonably or obsessively anxious, suspicious, or mistrustful
A lot of people experience paranoia, and they lose their sense of trust in individuals because they are always afraid something might go wrong. Pronoia is a cool new twist on all of life’s perspectives.
I first heard about Pronoia when listening through a playlist Spotify had created for me. It had such a catchy beat, and it really made me start to research more about it.
“Pronoia describes a state of mind that is the opposite of paranoia. Whereas a person suffering from paranoia feels that persons or entities are conspiring against them, a person experiencing pronoia believes that the world around them conspires to do them good.”
Imagine you just lost your job. Someone who was paranoid would think that the world was conspiring against them and there was no way to change what they did. However, someone who has pronoia would start to realize maybe they were meant to lose their job for a reason. Maybe because of this something even better was coming their way.
